Difference between localizations

Storyboard divides localizations into two categories:

  • MASTER localizations
  • SECONDARY localizations

MASTER localizations

Only ŠKODA HQ has access to edit these localizations. They include EN and CS version.

These localizations are sort of „Main source of truth“ - that means that they should not be changed by making modifications to SECONDARY localizations and if they are not published, then localized content in SECONDARY localizations should not be published either. There are still a lot of pending changes to the source code of Storyboard to ensure the integrity of MASTER localizations, so they are not affected by modifications in SECONDARY localizations and care must be taken when editing content in SECONDARY localizations.

SECONDARY localizations

These are Storyboard localizations that are under importer jurisdiction with the exception of DE which is managed by ŠKODA HQ.

These SECONDARY localizations include Slovakian, Serbian, Irish and any other future localizations that will be onboarded.

Editors of these localizations have modified „Author“ WordPress role. This restricts them to their content and prevents them from editing high level information such as global Storyboard settings, menus, widgets and homepages. Exception to the author role on Storyboard is that Author can also edit other Author's content. However, they are restricted only to selected localizations (Author from SK cannot edit content from SR).

If an editor of SECONDARY localization wants to make changes to any of the restricted parts of Storyboard, they have to go through ŠKODA HQ first.
